"Given the lukewarm response Daredevil received critically it came as somewhat a surprise when Twentieth Century Fox announced Jennifer Garner would be reprising the role of then deceased Elektra in her own spin-off feature movie. How would she come back to life? Would Daredevil fit into the plot? Would there be a plot? Would anyone care?

Daredevil was written using the universal template for comic book heroes by sticking with a straightforward story that first introduces the hero and then presents a crisis for the hero to resolve. The writing trio of Zak Penn, Stuart Zicherman and Raven Metzner tossed the proven template out the window in favor of a more disjointed, risque approach with Elektra.

The story finds Elektra alive and physically well a few years after her death in Daredevil, using magical skills such as super speed and visual premonition to assassinate bad guys she's been paid to off. This is obviously one troubled chick willing to kill anyone without remorse though it's never fully explained why."

"When you decide to spin off a franchise, shouldn't the original qualify as a genuine hit? With a gross just barely past the $100 million mark, 2003's Daredevil didn't exactly light a lot of fires. So why'd Fox decide to spin off a supporting character for 2005's Elektra? I guess hope springs eternal, though the horrible $40 million gross for 2004's Catwoman must have given the folks at Fox some chills.

Does Elektra live down to the level of that classic clunker? Probably not, though the pair seem to be kissing cousins. Obviously audiences were even less interested in Daredevil's girlfriend, as Elektra grossed a pathetic $24 million.

At the start of Elektra, we learn about a mystical order called The Hand, a group with its good and evil sides. Their prophecies predict a female warrior who will act as the final weapon in an ancient war. Jennifer Garner (Elektra), Terence Stamp (Stick), Goran Visnjic (Mark Miller), producer Gary Foster (DAREDEVIL, GHOST RIDER) and director Rob Bowman (X-FILES: FIGHT THE FUTURE, REIGN OF FIRE) all sat down together for the Q&A session. Jen was the same pumped up sprite that we'd encountered a couple of hours earlier on set when she was filming. She really seems to have embraced this character and is taking her role even more seriously than she did in Daredevil. Physically, I was a little surprised at how 'petite' she appeared in person. Not to mention, cute as hell! Stamp was pretty hard-as-nails, but seemed to come out of his shell more as the interview went on and after Jennifer joined us. Rob's just the coolest son-of-a-bitch you would want to meet. He's extremely confident and approachable and has a keen sense of humor. He's the one I was most impressed with."
